Verification
Verify a rank
Every rank awarded under Shōtō Keishōkai is entered in the register with a certificate number. We answer for all of them.
- Email the certificate number, the student's name and the rank to [email protected].
- The register is checked and a reply is sent within a few days confirming the rank, the date and the examiner, or stating that no such record exists.
- Students arriving from a JKA-affiliated dojo keep their current rank once it has been verified with their previous dojo. Contact the President before the first class.
For dojos receiving one of our students. Ask the student for their Record of Rank. It lists every grade with its certificate number, examiner and date, and is issued free of charge. Quote any certificate number to [email protected] and we will confirm it.
Transfers into a member dojo
Students transferring from other JKA-affiliated clubs can keep their current rank once it has been verified. Please contact Dr. Rogers before attending your first class so the rank can be verified.
We do not re-examine a verified rank from a JKA-affiliated dojo. We may ask a transferring Dan grade to demonstrate before being appointed to teach or examine.
